Working out arrangements after separation

Breaking up with a partner is stressful and there’s a lot to work out.

You may need to decide on matters like custody for your children or how to split up your assets.

Supporting you at every step

Mediation may help you find a way forward.

Our Family Advisors and Mediators can support you through it. We can help you to reach an agreement that will focus on your children's need.

Mediation is a meeting for you + your former partner to talk about your children and/or property.

We also call this Family Dispute Resolution. It is safe and confidential.

At mediation, we support you to reach agreements that will help you and your family move forward. You need to try to agree through mediation before you can take a family matter to court.

Property mediation is a low-cost alternative to using private lawyers. You don’t need to have children to be eligible for property mediation with us.

When making arrangements for your children, it is important to put their needs first. Before mediation, parents or caregivers attend a separate session that talks more about this. We call this a Child-Focused Information Session.  You can ask your Mediator for your children to meet with a child consultant who will hear the child’s experience of separation before your mediation.

We can connect you with other services that can offer extra support, like personal or financial counselling.
