Our vision for U City
To create a vibrant, integrated community that brings together residential, social, commercial and community services to establish a sustainable, inclusive and thriving community in the heart of the city.
U City is predicted to use 45 per cent less energy and 30 per cent less water than a comparable new building.
Keeping it green
We are the first registered charity in Australia to be certified carbon neutral. And we are committed to continuing to reduce our carbon footprint.
U City is recognised as one of Australia’s ‘greenest’ buildings and has achieved 6-Star Green Star Design and As Built Ratings. It is predicted to use 45 per cent less energy and 30 per cent less water than a comparable new building.
The project complements a broader commitment from the State Government and Adelaide City Council to develop a network of connected laneways. This includes Pitt Street, which is part of the link from Adelaide’s riverbank area to the Central Market.
